Saints' WR Mike Thomas Done For The Year After A "Setback" In Rehab

Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas announced Wednesday that he will remain out for the rest of the season after "another small set back which we will have to address" in his recovery from ankle surgery.

In the statement, Thomas writes, “I've always been a man of faith and these past few months my faith has truly been tested.” He continues to write how his rehab did not go as planned resulting in the setback:

Thomas, 28, underwent ligament surgery this past offseason to repair his left ankle from an injury he initially suffered in Week 1 of the ‘20 season. The surgery reportedly caused friction between the star WR and the team due to him getting the procedure done late. Earlier Wednesday morning, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Thomas had suffered a new ankle injury that required him to see a specialist as he was close to an expected return. Reports also surfaced yesterday that the Saints tried to trade for Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. before the trade deadline with news of Thomas’ injury coming down the pipe.

The Saints sit in playoff position currently, but with the latest Thomas news and QB Jameis Winston going down for the remainder of the year with an ACL tear, the Saints playoff chances are getting murkier in a crowded NFC picture.
