Astros celebrating advancing to World Series

The Red Sox were “underdogs” going into the playoffs, but they went on a run and beat the Yankees in the Wild Card game, and then the Rays in the first round. After winning Game 2 and 3 of the ALCS to go up 2-1 in the series, the Red Sox had all the momentum. The Astros however didn’t fold and used their championship pedigree to win three straight and advance.

Rookie starter Luis Garcia was dominant in the game going 5 2/3 innings and giving up just one hit while striking out seven.

The play of the game came in the top of the seventh with two on and one out for the Red Sox, who were down 2-0. Facing reliever Kendall Graveman, pinch hitter Travis Shaw struck out on a 3-2 pitch as Alex Verdugo took off from first base. Astros catcher Martin Maldonado threw Verdugo out for the strike ‘em out, throw 'em out double play:

The Astros will face either the Dodgers or Braves, who play Game 6 today.
