Schwarber hits a grand slam to give Boston a big lead
Kyle Schwarber hit Boston’s history-making third grand slam of the series in the second inning to take a 6-0 lead early in the game:
Things got worse for the Astros as the Red Sox started teeing off all night on Houston’s pitchers to go on to win 12-3 in a rout, ending the night with four home runs.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora was pleased with his team’s performance saying they played “close to a perfect game as it could have.”
“Offensively, this is the best they’ve been all season,” Cora said. “They’re locked in right now.”
Astros second baseman Jose Altuve had a costly error before the grand slam that could’ve been an inning-ending double play:
Schwarber big hit marked his third home run of these playoffs. When speaking with the media postgame he said, “These are moments that you’re never going to forget as a player.”
