Raiders Release WR Henry Ruggs After Fatal Crash and DUI Charges

The Raiders have released WR Henry Ruggs III on Tuesday night following his involvement in a fatal crash that left a woman and her dog pronounced dead on the scene.

The 23-year-old woman who passed in the crash has not been identified by authorities. Ruggs, 22, was “driving his car and slammed at high speed” into the rear of the women’s car in a residential area early Tuesday morning. The women’s car “burst into flames” and she and her dog died, police said.

Ruggs and his girlfriend who was a passenger, 22-year-old Rudy Washington, were seriously injured and were transported to a local hospital to treat their wounds following the incident. Ruggs was charged with multiple felony charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in death and reckless driving. 

"The Raiders are aware of an accident involving Henry Ruggs III that occurred this morning in Las Vegas. We are devastated by the loss of life and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim's family. We are in the process of gathering information and will have no further comment at this time," the Raiders said in a statement earlier.

Ruggs is currently being held without bail and is due in court Wednesday morning.
