The Atlanta Falcons have found another way to a blow a late lead, Big Apple teams are still without a win for the year, and the Kansas City Chiefs have shown that they just might repeat this year after tossing it all over their best competition in the AFC in the Baltimore Ravens.
Welcome ladies and gents, every week after the final game in the NFL week we will analyze, condemn, and celebrate all the crazy plays and mishaps that have happened so far in the league. Whether it’s a game-winning field goal or the interception that costs the game in the closing moments, we are on it. Let me introduce you to The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. What team gets the feature?
The Good: Josh Allen MVP Hype Continues
If you were one of the people that didn’t believe in the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen, it’s okay! There were a lot of them, including me. I didn’t see the Bills winning the division with a motivated Cam and Belichick in New England and I definitely didn’t see Allen getting off to the start that he has. After only three games, he has half as many touchdowns as he did last season with 10 already, only one interception. He’s second in passing yards behind Dak Prescott and his completion percentage has been tremendous so far. So why isn’t he the MVP favorite? Well because Russell Wilson exists and he’s trying to get his first MVP vote and Aaron Rodgers is on his revenge tour.
But that doesn’t take away from what Allen has done so far and he rightfully deserves to be in the top three along with those other two. He’s been quieting doubters, one of them recently, Jalen Ramsey, who had to retract his statement of calling Allen trash after Allen accounted for five touchdowns this past Sunday against the Rams, his fifth one being the game-winner:
The Bills still have a long season to go, and Cam and Belichick are right there behind them in that division. If the Bills defense remains dominant and Allen continues to not be trash and actually way better than expected, he will receive some MVP votes.
The Bad: No NFC East Team is over .500
The NFC East is notoriously known as the worst division in the NFL. You have the Giants that are just beyond abysmal with no real pro level offense to speak of, ranking second to worst in the NFL offensively ahead of ironically the other trash New York team. The Washington Football team showed heart Week 1 but came right down to earth these past two weeks and Haskins hasn’t been anything to praise. The Eagles still remain without a win this season after cowardly taking a tie against the Bengals…THE BENGALS. And then you have the Cowboys who have the potential to be good but continue to shoot themselves in the foot whether it’s the consistent slow starts or getting an untimely penalty.
So by rules (LOL), there has to be a team from this division that makes it to the playoffs. Cowboys and Eagles are the favorites to do it, Cowboys more than the Eagles seeing how bad Carson Wince has been. Wentz has been so bad that he has already been booed virtually and the head coach is being asked in just Week 3 if he was benching Wentz for Jalen Hurts. Now the Cowboys I’m higher on and it’s not because they're my team (inserts moon-face emoji) but because I really do see this team improving. They had a miraculous win against the Falcons and for all it’s worth, an impressive offensive performance against an SB favorite in the Seahawks.
They’ll have a favorable schedule until Week 9 when they face the Steelers so they got time to fix their problems on defense, paging Earl Thomas. The Giants I’m not even going to bother with discussing further and the Football team is going to have to deal with a pissed off Lamar and the Ravens this Sunday. Let us take this time to pray for them.
The Ugly: The Atlanta Falcons
The worst possible professional team to root for right now might just be the Falcons. I mean to literally find new ways to lose every week is just embarrassing. What’s even more embarrassing is that Dan Quinn is STILL the head coach for this team after all the bs. They arguably could be 3-0 and that is the biggest indictment against this team.
So what do they need to do? Fire Dan Quinn, it’s that simple. The Falcons have too much talent for them to fold in games as they do. I’m a believer in Matt Ryan and think he can get this team to an SB again at some point if the stars align right. But for this to become a reality, Falcon’s owner Arthur Blank has to pull the plug. He has to make good of his empty threats and fire the whole coaching staff including Dirk Koetter who just might be the worst offensive coordinator in the league.
If I were the Falcons and knowing how explosive this offense could be, I would fire Quinn immediately and see about getting the Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. The fact that he isn’t a head coach already is a crime in itself but the Falcons can make things right and restore order to this franchise. The stench of blowing that 28-3 lead in the SB still looms over this team. So bad it’s become their trademark. Rest easy Falcons, it’ll get better.
Stay tuned next Tuesday for The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.
