Champion Sunday Predictions

Just four teams remain in the 2020 NFL Playoffs and Championship Sunday should provide us perfect closure to a good weekend of sports.
The Chiefs, Titans, Packers, and Niners will face off today to book their trip to Miami, Florida. Unique to these championship round matchups, they are rematches of this season. Chiefs and Titans battled to the last second in Week 10 in Patrick Mahomes’ return from injury with Titans coming out on top with a block field goal. The Niners, on the other hand, got through early with the Packers in a blowout win during Week 12. Both games today, however, will not go as their last meetings. These are my predictions for who will make it the 54th Super Bowl.
Titans at Chiefs
“He's not one of the best guys at breaking tackles to me honestly,” said Chiefs’ Frank Clark of Derrick Henry, firing the first shot of the war of words between the two teams. This is after Henry ran for 188 yards and two touchdowns in their previous matchup with a win. The league’s leading rusher has run for over 180 plus yards in his last three games, even using safety Earl Thomas as his personal blocker after he talked about tacking the beast as well. It’s too bad Clark won’t be able to back that up because I think Henry will be stopped today, but not by the Chiefs defense, but by Patrick Mahomes’ offense.
This game will more likely be a low scoring affair until the end of the second quarter when Mahomes shows you why he and the Chiefs have the most explosive offense. And when that happens, Derrick Henry will be neutralized. The Chiefs defense has been of the best since that game and you can attest that to Tyrann Mathieu who has made an impact on this once joke of a defense. I see them getting key stops early on downs as the trio of Hill, Hardmon, and Kelce make dazzling plays with Mahomes going up big in the game. When that happens Mike Vrabel won’t be able to run the ball as much as he would want to playing from behind. That is the key to stopping King Henry, in a way placing it on Ryan Tannehill to throw you back in the game. And that isn’t a sleight to Tannehill who has been excellent after replacing Marcus Mariota, but the Titans are better as a team when they are able to dominate with the run game.
Andy Reid and the Chiefs will not choke…yet as the Chiefs beat the Titans, 35-14.
Packers at 49ers
Aaron Rodgers returns to his home state of California with an opportunity to add to his legacy as one of the greatest quarterbacks the game has seen with a big win tonight and a win in the Super Bowl. But he has to get to Miami first, and in his way is a tall mountain named the San Francisco 49ners. It is not an exaggeration to say that the 49ers have been the best team in the NFL this season. They have had the second-best defense with an array of weapons on the defensive side in future DROY Nick Bosa, Richard Sherman, DeForest Bucker, etc. with a top-five offense to supplement it. The running attack forged by Kyle Shanahan is one of the best the season behind their caddle of running backs. How is Rodgers and the Packers supposed to combat all of this? Well because Rodgers has something to prove to all who wrote him and his team off this season that’s why.
Rodgers is due for a big performance in this game. It is his first time back to the NFC Championships since the 2016 season and he has a legit team this time around. The Packers spent the necessary money to give the 36-year-old quarterback a hand with a great defense with Preston and Za'Darius Smith providing pressure and Aaron Jones being an absolute weapon offensively in this Matt LaFleur offense. The game won’t go as it did last time with the Packers just being dominated but rather look for a close affair coming down to the wire and a vintage Aaron Rodgers performance. Jimmy Garoppolo will due his part and make the plays he needs to, Rodgers will just make more and will lead his team to the championship.
The Packers escapes Levi Stadium, 27-24.
